
Who doesn’t love a little dash of color in their lives(especially lately)? The cake is simple and so easy to make. Prep time is less than 10 mins and baking time is no more than 25 mins.. so in less than an hour, you could be digging into this scrumptious slice of heaven. My family loves more of a drizzle than a thick frosting.
Lately, most of my cakes have been gluten-free and my go-to flour is Bob’s Red Mill – 1-to-1. After many trials and tribulations, this is the flour that has consistently worked best for me. The creativity of cakes depends on your personal choice and mood. I also love getting creative with fresh flowers, fruits, chocolate flakes, and edible bling. You can also bake a bundt cake with this recipe. I have an array of cake pans and the cakes look different depending on the pan used. Color Me Red Velvet Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup All-purpose flour or GF Bob’s Red mill
- 1 cup Fine sugar
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 10 tbsp Oil
- pinch Salt
- 4 Eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (pure)
- 2 tsp Cocoa powder
- 2 tsp Liquid red food color
Cream Cheese Drizzle/Frosting
- 4 oz Cream cheese softened
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (Pure)
- ½ cup Powdered sugar
- 5 tbsps Milk for drizzling consistency
Add A Twist – Better Than Almost Anything Red Velvet
- ¾ can Condensed milk (sweetened)
- ¼ cup Milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees, and spray pan with baking spray
- In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to mix oil and sugar
- Add flour, and salt one by one
- Add the eggs one by one
- Add vanilla, food color and cocoa powder
- Mix for about 5 minutes
- Bake for 35 minutes/Mini Bundt pans ( bake for 23 mins)
For The Twist – Better Than Almost Anything Red Velvet
- Whisk together 3/4 cup condensed milk and 1/4 cup milk.Once the cake has cooled, poke holes on top of the cake with a back of a wooden spoonDrizzle the mixture over the top of the cake and let the cake soak it in.Can refrigerate the cake for like 15 minutes
Cream Cheese Drizzle/Frosting
- Beat the cream cheese and vanilla until smooth.
- Add sugar and milk.
- Whisk until light and fluffy
- Add milk if you want a drizzle consistency
